Why is it important for me to fill out an application for a position if I already have a resume? Why can’t I just send this?
It really isn’t a case of the company wanting to make more work for you; as this allows the recruitment officer to get a snapshot of you and your relevant details and remuneration that you are chasing.
An application usually follows the guidelines below, remember to complete all categories and double check for errors, grammar and spelling mistakes as these are usually the first things that block your application.
The application allows for the employer to have all of your

Personal details:
  • ·         Name
  • ·         Address
  • ·         Contact (Phone, Mobile and email)
  • ·         The right to work in Australia
Education:
  • ·        Schools/ college attended
  • ·         Major
  • ·         Degree
  • ·         Graduation dates
Position you have applied for:
  • ·         Position title
  • ·         Days and hours you can work
  • ·         When you can start
Previous employment
  • ·         Name, address and contact information of employers (usually 3)
  • ·         Supervisor/managers name
  • ·         Employment dates
  • ·         Reason for leaving
Remuneration/Salary package
  •       $       (usually annual)

Then you are asked to supply a recent copy of your resume and cover letter.
Occasionally you will be asked to supply references at this stage.

I do trust all of the concepts you have offered in your post. They're very convincing and will definitely work. Nonetheless, the posts are very brief for novices. Could you please extend them a bit from next time? Thanks for the post.
